Are you aware that someone has it worse than you do?

All of us are guilty of always complaining about wanting more, better, faster, smaller, bigger, and prettier things!  We all are in a race with only one goal in mind - to win.  One of my school principles always told us that winning is not everything it is the only thing.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with striving for a better life and winning but do not forget to appreciate all the little things you have in life.
No matter where we are in life or what we are there will always be people who have more than us but also people who have it worse than us!  Life is a gift and everything we have is not a right but a privilege.
For a moment think about what you have in your life physically and emotionally.  You will be amazed about what you actually have!

If I were the boss..

Yes all of us have thought about what we would do if we were the boss!
If I were the boss I would
·         Be patient.
·         Compliment employees when they do well.
·         Tell employees exactly what I want.
·         Treat them the way I would like to be treated.
·         Put myself in their shoes.

Being the boss is not always as easy as it may seem.  The boss needs to think about and for everyone.  This includes employees, clients, suppliers and all its other stakeholders.   The main concern for every boss is the success of his / her business.  There are a lot of factors influencing businesses everyday and management should think fast and on their feet.  (That is why PR exists to help management in this regard).
Sometimes your boss would probably feel like
·         Be patient with me.
·         Let me know if you do not understand something.
·         Tell me when you are upset
·         Help me to identify problems
·         Tell me your suggestions.

All of us are human beings with our own values, believes and individuality no matter in what position we are.  We need to communicate with each other and try to understand each other’s situations.

Fear

Confusion, financial uncertainty, job losses, violence – the present day is definitely a time of uncertainty and fear.
Most of the time when we fear something it is because it is unknown to us.  The only thing we should actually fear is fear itself.  Fear and the fear of fear are universal to all human beings. Most of us will first try to avoid our fears but the sooner we face our fears the sooner we will conquer our fears.
But there also comes a point in everyone’s life when we are forced to face our fears. Here we do not have a choice when to face it or time to prepare for it.  Whether it is losing someone special your first day at school or work, retrenchment, all of us goes through different stages of life and are faced with all kinds of fears.
Fear is part of everyday life for everyone.  Do not let fear prevent you to live.  Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

Two people come out of a building and into a story.

Isn’t it weird how everything happens in life?  Think about how you have met the people in your life.  The one day you will walk next to someone without knowing each other and the next day you will come out of a building and into a story.
Some say it is coincidence, but I say it is fate. I believe that everything happens for a reason.  We all make choices every single day, whether it is a simple or a more complicated choice.   Every choice we make has a consequence.   But no matter what choices you have made in your life, in the end everything will work out exactly the way it was supposed to.
I heard a saying a while back – do not regret any choice you have made because in that moment in time it was exactly what you wanted.  Therefore we should not regret anything.  Try to see the bigger picture.
I think of life as a puzzle.  The first piece is added to the puzzle the day we are born and from there on onwards we add pieces to our puzzle every time we say or do something.   At the end of our life our puzzle will be complete and although there will be dark pieces in the puzzle it will still have a perfect picture!

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Everyone says you are as old as you feel, but how old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?  How did people know how old they were before they could count?  Probably how old they felt or they just didn’t care.
Yes our age does limit us in many ways, but it does not have to! We only live ones and we need to make it count!  This makes me think about a song from Bryan Adam – 18 Till I Die.  That is so true.  Be how old you want to be!
Another thing which limits most of us to live life to the fullest is society.  Society in general is so quick to judge everyone, but they actually just shoot themselves in the foot.  But why do most people care about what society says?  Every single person in this world wants to be part of some kind of group.  Not one of us likes to be alone and that is why we mostly do what is acceptable in our groups or in society.
But don’t let anyone decide how you should live your life!  It is your life and only you will regret it in the end.  Be 18 till you die!!

Designer PR?

Public Relations has a lot of functions yes, but one of them are definitely being a Designer.  It does not matter if you are the technician or the manager. You have the power to design your companies image the way you want it to be.  Your companies’ image is in your hands.  Oh don’t we as Public Relations Practitioners just love it to be in charge?
All my fellow Public Relations Practitioners here follow a few tips what I have learned so far.  Even if we are designers and like to be creative, remember to keep it simple.  Editors, Stylists and Writers are lost in a sea of fancy press kits and press releases. The world is changing fast and you need to identify the changes and adapt to it!  Before you spend lots of money on printed press kits rather replace it with digital press kits which is much cheaper.  Good and relevant photos are still a must! Know what your product looks like for the general audience.  Also know your publications, what types of work they cover and what they prefer from a Public Relations Practitioner.
So yes I will say we can think of ourselves as designers, because we are.  That is exactly what we do.  We are designing companies into something extra ordinary.

I am..

I am a fun and loving unique 22 year old girl with a zest for life.  I grew up in a small town called Sabie in the Province of Mpumalanga in South Africa.  I enjoyed growing up there.  I have made friends for life and always had something exciting to do.  I love South Africa..the people, the different cultures, the music, the climate, the nature; everything about it!  I currently live in the Western Cape which I think is the greatest province to live in, in South Africa!  I mean driving to class or work and be able to look out over Table Mountain, the sea and vineyards just makes me peaceful.
I did my diploma in Public Relations Management and I am currently busy with my Btech degree at CPUT in Cape Town.  I just want to know as much as I can and are working myself to becoming one of the top PR’s in South Africa.
I work for a small non-profit company that does Entrepreneurship and skills development training.  We also do projects to help people from previous advantage communities to start their own community or household gardens.  I am the PR assistant but basically I do everything except for the actual finances, and HR.
I am driven and hardworking.  I mean for someone to work 9 hours a day, have class for 3 hours a day and sit in traffic for 2 hours a day and give up your weekends to do assignments one just have to be driven – wink.
I have a very small heart and will give away my last cents to help someone or make someone smile.  I live for people.  I mean just think about how life would have sucked without anyone around you to share life’s wonderful experiences with.
Jesus is my King.
